Padel courts in Chișinău

Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport in Moldova and the easiest one to start: four people who have never held a racket will have real rallies inside the first hour. Courts are enclosed, so weather matters far less than it does for tennis.

If you have never played

Tennis rules. Squash walls.

A padel court is 20 × 10 m, about a quarter of a tennis court, enclosed by glass and mesh. The ball may be played off the back wall after it bounces, the serve is underarm, and the racket is short, solid and stringless — which is why the learning curve is measured in hours, not months.

What it costs

400–800 lei per court

Priced per court per hour and split four ways — roughly 100–200 MDL each. Most clubs hire out rackets and balls for a small fee, so a first game needs no purchase.

Frequently asked questions

About padel.

What is padel and how is it different from tennis?

Padel is played 2v2 on a 20 × 10 m court enclosed by glass and mesh walls. The ball may be played after it rebounds off the walls, as in squash, the serve is underarm from below waist height, and the racket is short, solid and perforated rather than strung. Scoring is the same as tennis: 15, 30, 40, game.

Where can I play padel in Chișinău?

Sporta MD lists the partner padel courts in Chișinău with opening hours, address and facilities. Padel courts here are almost all purpose-built and enclosed, which means they stay playable in wind and light rain and run later into the evening than open tennis courts do.

How much does an hour of padel cost?

Courts in Chișinău generally cost 400–800 MDL per hour for the whole court, which is about 100–200 MDL per player once split between four. Evenings and weekends sit at the upper end. Racket hire is usually a small extra fee, so a first session costs nothing beyond the court.

I am a complete beginner. Is that a problem?

No — padel is the easiest racket sport to start. The underarm serve removes the hardest shot in tennis, the short racket is far easier to control, and the walls keep the ball in play so rallies actually happen. The ELO system places you at Beginner and suggests opponents in the same band.

What should I bring to a first game?

Sports shoes with non-marking soles and comfortable clothes. Rackets and balls can be hired at most clubs, so you do not need to buy equipment before you know whether you like the sport. Do not buy a racket until you have played several times — models differ in ways that only matter once you have a style.
